Yup I'm here to blog!
In retrospect, CNY for me gets increasing more boring as the years go by. In the past, I used to look forward to the gathering of relatives and friends. As the years go by, I look forward to the money that I can receive. It is a change of perspective, a paradigm shift, and an alteration of mindset.
Anyway, I'm not here to talk about CNY.
Yesterday (Saturday) morning saw me at AWWA (Asian Women's Welfare Association), where I was scheduled to evaluate a speech delivered by one of the members of TEACH ME Toastmasters Club. In my entire 16-month history as a Toastmaster, this was my very first time I was evaluating a speech during which the speaker broke down in tears while talking about her family. When I saw her in tears, I placed my pen on the table, shoved the evaluation sheet away, folded my arms and listened to her speech instead of scribbling notes on the speech evaluation.
After the chapter meeting (toastmasters meeting), I had to rush to another Toastmasters Club to serve as a judge for a speech competition. I was talking to another judge sitting beside me, that the project speech speakers at AWWA were indeed an extra-ordinary group of people. If misfortune were to hit us, how many of us would have the courage to carry on in life, and strive for excellence? Those people, though only 20-21 years old (plus minus), clearly demonstrated what resilience was.
At times when we grumble that our lives are incomplete, we fail to see how lucky we are. Yes, our lives may seem to be a tea-bag in hot water: the longer it stays in the water, the more bitter it gets. However, at the same time, adversities also serve as tea-bags: yes the tea may be more bitter, but doesn't it become stronger?
